AKC FIELD TRIAL
March 2-3, 2003 in Monroe, NC.

What do cold, rain and Suicidal Quail have in common?? They are all
part of Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club’s 2002 Field Trial, along
with great participants, judges and helpers, who despite all these
things, still had a great time. The rain held off Saturday morning just
long enough to get the horses saddled and the birds planted for the
first brace, but that was all the break we would get from the rain until
mid morning on Sunday. The rain and wet birds were sometimes too much
for the dogs and even a few quail wanted to get out of the rain so much,
they flew straight into the dog’s mouths. Chairman Joe Stringer ran a
great trial again this year and was backed up with many great helpers,
including Ken Tapley, Carol Parron, Tim Carwile, Joe Petroski, Ross
Adams and Nikolaus Scharpf to name a few. Kathi Stringer did a great job
as Field Marshall and Carol and George Barry kept us fed and watered
during the day. We appreciate the participants for supporting our club,
including our professional dog handlers, Gene Dagenhart and Dan and
Cindy Long as well as all the amateurs who braved the conditions to run
their dogs. A special thanks to our judges for keeping their humor
during adverse weather conditions to say the least. Congratulations to
all the winners this year.
