ADOPTION  CONTRACT

The laws of South Carolina will govern the interpretation and enforcement of this contract. In consideration for my receiving (dog’s name)_________ ____ from the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club’s Rescue Committee on __________, I hereby agree to care for the animal humanely (including providing adequate food, water, shelter, and necessary veterinary care) and license it in accordance with the laws and ordinances of the jurisdiction in which I reside. I also agree not to sell, trade or dispose of said animal in any way, but to return it to the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club’s Rescue Committee if at any time I wish to relinquish custody.

I further agree that said animal shall not be used for medical or any experimental purposes whatsoever, shall not be kept chained or tied, shall not be attack trained, or used for fighting purposes. In addition I agree not to allow the animal to be free to roam the streets or to transport it in the back of an open truck except within a dog crate.  I agree to allow this Weimaraner to sleep in the house and to provide obedience training.

It is understood that the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club’s Rescue Committee may examine and make inquiry about said animal at any time and if not satisfied with its condition or the conditions in which it is being kept, said animal shall be reclaimed by the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club’s Rescue Committee immediately. It is further understood that no AKC registration is applicable in this transaction.

A two-week trial period is provided during which time the animal may be returned by the adopter to the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club’s Rescue Committee for any reason and the adopter’s fee will be fully refunded.

I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Weimaraner Club of America and the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives from all manner of actions and causes of actions, suits, debts, dues, accounts, bonds, convenants, contracts, agreements, judgments, claims and demands whatsoever arising out of my possession and placement of this animal. I also understand that the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club will not be responsible for any medical care (or cost thereof) required after placement of the animal. In addition, the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club cannot be held responsible for the conduct, behavior, or disposition of this dog after its placement.

Unconfirmed and unverified information has been voluntarily provided to the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club’s Rescue Committee, but the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club has undertaken no investigation with regard to the history or physical condition of the dog, its background, or its suitability or compatibility.
