9/22/08 ADOPTED!! 8/25/08
LOCATED IN FLORENCE, SC
Barney is a very sweet, grey boy about 18 months old. He loves to
play with other dogs, male and female. I have not found anyone he does not like,
adults or children, with the exception of Cats. He will need to go to a home
with no cats. He came to me from Second Chance Rescue. Second Chance
found him in a very bad situation (covered in fleas and ticks etc.). We will not
go into the etc. part it is too heartbreaking. He was found to have Lyme
Disease and is Heart worm positive. He has been treated and recovered from the
Lyme Disease. He was started on the heart worm treatment this weekend.
(Barney is the companion to Pebbles; they were both seized by Animal control for
neglect and were in horrible shape).
Barney is a sweet adorable boy; he is neutered and housebroken - he goes to the door to indicate he wants to go outside, but you have watch for it. He just craves affection; poor little guy, I don't think he has had that before. It is amazing how he came from such a bad situation and can still be so friendly and loving. He will be a great addition to a loving family.
PLEASE find a forever loving home for this sweet little guy!

9/21/08 ADOPTED! 8/18/08 LOCATED IN SENECA, SC.
My name is Rosie, I am a young ~ 14 month old Weimaraner female.
I
was
rescued from the Greenville Humane Society by the Greater
Charleston Weimaraner Club. I was a frightened young girl, very malnourished,
skin and bones and with a raging skin infection from fleas and poor nutrition. I
had been living on the streets for too long!
I am now spayed and up-to-date on all vaccinations, have put on some weight, and my coat is getting thick and shiny.
I have adapted to my foster home and family. I get along well with another Weimaraner in my foster home, Campbell, and a terrier/hound mix, Zac. We all share toys and beds. I am lease trained, and learning some basic obedience. I enjoy rides in the car, chasing squirrels in the backyard, going on walks in the neighborhood, and giving cuddles and kisses. I get on very well with children and other dogs (but not cats). I have moved from a wild, street dog to a gentle, family dog, Plus, I think I would be great at hunting and tracking with some training. I am a very sweet, loving girl looking for a family to love me in return.
My
adoption fee through the Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club is $250, and that
includes spaying, microchipping, and all vaccinations and any medications to
date.
Please give me a forever home!

9/14//08 ADOPTED!
8/17/08 LOCATED BETWEEN COLUMBIA AND AIKEN, SC.
Blue is an approximately 20 month old
male. He was found running with two other Weims when picked up by Lexington
Animal Control. He is neutered and has had all his vaccines. He is heartworm
positive but under treatment. Blue is extremely sweet. His main goal in life is
to please humans. He has the usual amount of energy for a 20 month old Weim but
it is easily controlled with verbal commands due to his pleasing nature. He is
good with other dogs. He would probably chase cats, however, (if they run from
dogs) due to his love to chase things that roll or run. He is housebroken. He
does not seem to jump up on people so far. He just sits at your feet and looks
up at you with eyes begging to be loved.

9/5/08 ADOPTED! LOCATED IN CHARLESTON, SC.
"Pebbles" (we named her) is an adorable probably 16-18 month old grey female.
She was seized along with a male companion (Barney above) - likely her
litterbrother - by Animal Control and taken to the
Second Chance Rescue in Florence, SC because they were
being badly neglected (both were starving). The low life stated "they don't need nothin'
but a chain, water and a food bowl. " Sigh..... In spite of her sad
previous life, Pebbles is very loving, friendly and once we
get her in good shape, she will be just beautiful! Her eyes are almost
blue. She is very
underweight (46 lbs) and needs good nutrition. She is a small female, friendly,
affectionate,
happy girl who loves everybody. She learned to swim and retrieves from our pond,
she points, loves to retrieve a ball or toy and
enjoys her rawhide
chews. Amazingly, Pebbles will now swim over 30 yards in the pond and retrieve a
dummy to hand! She will make a fantastic dog for some lucky family!!
Update 8/28: Pebbles has been to the vet, now weighs 53 lbs, has been vaccinated, is HW negative and in good health. She is in heat now and will be spayed afterwards. She comes when called, sits on command, is crate trained, & housebroken. She would make a great Agility dog.

7/6/08 LOCATED
IN TRYON, NC (NEAR GREENVILLE,
ASHEVILLE)
Duke came to me from Arkansas. A woman there had passed away and had left 14 dogs behind. Supposedly her boyfriend was talking care of them but based on Duke’s behavior upon arrival he had been abused. Because of this I think Duke would do best in a family with no children or older children because he does tend to get scared easily. Duke would make someone a wonderful friend because he wants nothing more to please and be loved. The right family for Duke is a must. While I love this dog I have recued and rehabilitated him to the best of my ability. It is time for him to have a family and for me to make room for another.
Duke is up to date on Shots, heartworm prevention and Advantage Plus
7/8/08 ADOPTED!! 7/6/08 LOCATED IN TRYON, NC (NEAR GREENVILLE, ASHEVILLE) Smokey is a 2 year old neutered male. He is about 100 lbs of pure love and happiness. He is very energetic and is a wonderful running partner (3-6 miles). He heels nicely off the leash but will also walk nicely on the lead. He has had basic obedience training and loves to jump agility jumps or horse jumps (more his size). He is house broken and will “go to bed” on command but he gets excited when initially let into the house. He is crate trained where he sleeps at night and stays inside a fence in the yard during the day without a problem. He is a little clumsy but is very sweet. Like most Weims he is strong willed and will need an owner who can command respect.Smokey’s owner died almost a year ago and he was inherited by her son who boarded him in a kennel where is was kept in a crate with no walks or exercise for 3 weeks before I rescued him. He had literally chewed his tail off and had to undergo surgery to cover the exposed bone. He still nips at it when he is nervous but it has healed nicely. He has been in my care for 7 months living with 6 other Weims. He is at an age where he needs to bond with someone. He is a wonderful, sweet dog who needs a Weim savvy family to give him the love and attention he deserves.
He is up to date on shots and is on heartworm protection and Advantage Plus.
Home must have fenced in yard, time to exercise and love to give. I will keep Smokey until I find him the home he deserves. References will be required and checked.

ADOPTED 7/5/08! 5/14/08 LOCATED IN SENECA, SC
HISTORY : "ROSIE" (previously "EUROPA") A PITIFUL 1 YR OLD FEMALE PUPPY, HW
POS AND IN BAD SHAPE found as a stray and obtained from the Greenville
County Animal Shelter. We have her now in her foster home with Cassie Welsh in
Seneca, SC. Initial evaluation: She is spayed. She is a sweet,
frightened, young bitch, with a raging skin infection and very malnourished.
Cassie will be taking her to her vet for analysis and hopefully, with good food,
meds and TLC she will be ready for adoption in a few weeks. Photos will be
posted as soon as she is in better shape.
5/22
Update: Rosie is really sweet and loves to play with other dogs. She has
been treated for her skin & flea infections andher coat is clearing up;
she is up to date on vaccines and is being treated for HW. Currently, she
tries to jump or climb fences to get with her "person" but this is being
resolved.
5/29: Update:
Rosie is a happy, affectionate young bitch who is adapting to her foster home and family. She gets on well with my Weim, Campbell and terrier mix Zac, and they all share toys and beds. Rosie is gaining weight, getting used to a leash, collar and check chain, and learning some basic obedience and manners. She enjoys rides in the car, chasing squirrels in the backyard, going on walks in the neighborhood, and giving cuddles and kisses. Everyone who meets her comments on her friendly temperament and beauty (despite her somewhat patchy coat at this time). We are working on changing her from a wild, street dog to a gentle, family dog. She will make someone a wonderful dog!6/20/08: Update: she is housebroken, much better behaved indoors, very social on our walks and visits, good with kids and adults and other dogs, and so sweet and loving and loyal. Stays in my yard and is happy to be at home. Not scared of noises, thunder etc. She is not good with cats and squirrels (we do a lot of 'leave its' on our walks and don't move forward until she is under control), but displays some good hunting traits if there is anyone out there willing to put in the training with her.

ADOPTED!!
4/5/08 LOCATED IN PALATKA, FL "SAMMY" is a medium
sized, neutered male, appears to be approximately 2 yrs old and was pulled from the
Greenville County Animal Shelter euthanasia list on the day he was to be put to
death! Thanks to our team of rescue ladies, we were able to save his life
and start him on the way to a loving home. He is a friendly, sweet natured
dog and does not seem to have any bad habits. He has had all vaccines, is
heartworm negative. We will be trying to put some
weight on him, and give him a little obedience training. Sammy will make a
really nice companion for a fortunate family!
April and my Weim Apache are getting along great – playing like brother and sister. She loves following him everywhere. April also loves to chase squirrels out of the yard. She has basic obedient knowledge. I am happy to say that she is now sleeping in the crate beside my bed. This is a wonderful girl!! April is very friendly and loves to play with other dogs. The ideal home would have a large fenced in yard, for her to run and play. Another dog as a companion (large breed) for her to play with would be wonderful. Also, she does have strong hunting instincts.
5/27/08 ADOPTED! 3/10/08 LOCATED IN CHARLESTON, SC LINDY is a approx. 4 year bitch who was found wandering in a starved condition in Bryan County near Pembroke, GA. . great with people and other dogs, but not cats.
ADOPTED 5/2/08!
"CHUCK" is a approx 9 month old male found
running with the wrong crowd and was picked up for chasing cattle near Savannah,
GA. He is HW positive but so adorable that his foster home, Barbara Glover
decided to keep him! He has been neutered and is on his way to obedience,
tracking, agility, and lots of fun with Barbara and her family.
This is an absolutely gorgeous girl! She obviously has lived in a house before. She
feels that any piece of furniture good enough for you is good enough for her.
She is house trained and shows very good manners. She doesn't jump up on
people. She is very compatible with my Jack Russell
mix and my Weimaraner, and has showed no aggression to them. She even bumps
into my Weim when the two are chasing after a ball.
Cricket loves to play with other dogs.
She has a very cooperative personality. She competes for a ball with my dog
without any aggression. She comes to me and sits. She is very sweet
overall. You can pet her and touch her while she is eating with her showing no
concern. She will allow me to manipulate her feet. She is calmer than my 4 yo male. She is not a swimmer. She walks well on a leash.
Cricket has been spayed and is ready for adoption. She is HW positive but will be treated with monthly Ivermectin.

"Shelby" an 8 month old puppy bitch, was received into our Rescue program
mid April by a concerned fellow in Florence, SC who noted she was being
neglected and abused by her irresponsible owner. She was at first shy and
afraid, but with help from Melissa Harley, Shelby was found to be a wonderful,
sweet, well behaved 8 month old girl. She has now been renamed Zoe
and is being adored by the Williams family in Columbia, SC
4/10/08 ADOPTED! 3/26/08
LOCATED IN COLUMBIA, SC AREA.
"Dietrich", a VERY handsome, 8-month old Weimaraner, is a very typical Weim
puppy. He was turned into the Florence shelter because his family was having
domestic problems and the wife insisted that the dog must go.
His inside behavior is calmer than
his outside behavior, again typical and a good thing. When he gets puppy-silly
inside, it is easily redirected to toys. He does not
bother people who are eating dinner
at the table. He enjoys
lying on the couch. He knows how to
“sit.” He rides well in a crate in
the car. I believe that it
is likely that in his previous home, he was stuck out
in the backyard and ignored which would have caused much
more unacceptable behavior resulting in his
predicament. He is extremely sweet and has a great level of
confidence. He does not appear to have suffered any
abuse. He would excel at agility
training as he is not afraid to go
under the couch to retrieve a ball. He has such
great potential to make someone a lifelong companion.

from the Greenville Animal Shelter. He is approximately 2-3 yrs old,
heartworm negative, has been wormed and is up to date on other vaccines.
Thanks to Katie Malone for providing his transportation from Greenville to us.
Mike is a very handsome, medium sized, neutered, Blue male. He has had
obedience training and is fine in a crate. He knows sit, stay, and fetch.
He retrieves and swims well! This is a really happy little guy whose tail
wags all the time and loves to be petted. He is playful and gets along
well with our other Weimaraners and other breeds. He will make someone an
excellent family member. He appears to have good hunting instincts and
should make a good gun dog. He seems to love kids. Probably not for cats.
He would be really happy with a family to give him training, attention, love,
with a fenced in yard & another dog to play with. He is very energetic
and would do best in an active home with owners who can jog or play with him a
lot.
Update 3/16 - they are now thriving,
gaining weight, having great fun playing, carry sticks and toys.

My sweet pup, Darma Dear, is about 15 months old. She is a blue, very smart, well socialized, good with children and cats, and just needs so much more than we can give her. My husband found her when she was a puppy wandering in the woods and we knew nothing of the breed. We have 3 small children and since the baby was born, she just seems depressed. It breaks my heart. My husband works long hours and we cannot give her the time, love, and exercise she deserves. I would love to find a family that would appreciate her. She has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations, and is on heartworm preventative medication. We live in Statesboro, GAPlease call Kimberly Macy at 912-489-0096 or krmacy1@netscape.com

"SPARTAN" is
about 3-4 yrs old. He was picked up as a stray by the Spartanburg Animal
Shelter. He is heartworm positive. He has been neutered and is up to
date on his vaccines. It is evident that he has had a hard life, and apparently
abused. He was sick and a rack of bones when we got him. We are
rehabilitating him, he is now in good weight and he is coming along nicely. He
feels much better, is very happy and playful. He loves to retrieve toys
and balls. Spartan seems so grateful for a warm bed, good food, clean water and
attention. He is very friendly,
plays well with females and neutered males. He is food aggressive with
other dogs. Cats unknown; but probably would not be good. He will
make an excellent gun dog as he knows about quail and has a staunch point.

LOCATED IN CHARLESTON, SC.
BAILEY This is a very well cared for sweet girl whose owner's health problems necessitated giving her up. We want a stable home for her with a family who has time to give her love and attention. BAILEY is a 3 year old spayed female. She has a good physical and mental health history with vet references for the past 2 years. She was rescued as a 4 month old puppy. She is great with other dogs and cats. Lives now with a Yorkie and cat. She is delightful with children. Very gentle. Very excited when you return home after being away, but calms with sit and stay command. Loves to run in park. Is leash and free-run trained. Loves the water.
Bailey weighs 65-70 pounds. She is very strong and protective. Her bark is fierce. She loves her family and her domain. She has been on Heartgard. She has always been current on vaccinations. Never had a major illness. Last summer was bitten on the mouth by a juvenile cotton-mouth snake in the University area in Charlotte. She spent 2 days in ICU but recovered after 10 days on antibiotics and pain medication. She has a small one half inch scar on her mouth.
Bailey needs a family with another dog to play with. Must have a yard, good fence and time for her. She will capture your heart.

"Bourbon" was owner surrendered to the Columbia Animal Shelter for unknown

personality, and has shown no bad habits. He is crate trained, house
broken, get along well with other dogs, friendly with new people, walks well
on lead, and honors many obedience commands. There is no doubt in my mind,
Bourbon was a loved and well maintained family pet – a little too well
maintained in the feeding department (see pictures)

10/21/07 ADOPTED! 9/4/07 LOCATED IN SUMMERVILLE, SC
"JOE"
is said to be only about 2 yrs old, but
has had a sad life from a series of very bad owners and experiences, has been
neglected and mistreated. He was rescued - literally - by Kevin in
Beaufort who found him very thin, starving and chained to a tree at a drug
addict's trailer near Santee, SC. He was being fed only table scraps, had
lost most of his coat - and completely bald around his neck where the collar was
cutting. The strung out addict actually told Kevin that he had rescued him
from another God awful situation! Kevin took him off his chain and
the addict said "he will run away" but, fortunately, he jumped into
Kevin's truck. Kevin took off with Joe and drove him straight
to a vet , got him dewormed and his shots, gave him good food and he began to
grow hair and gain weight. Kevin has had him for 8 months, but can
no longer keep him (due to moving) so he turned him over to our rescue
program. Initial assessment: thin, subdued, bad coat, friendly.
10/1/07: Update. Joe is neutered, up to date on shots, is heartworm positive but is on heartworm medication, and has some health issues related to malnutrition, which should resolve on a good diet. He is playful, friendly and gets along well with my other dogs. He will make someone a wonderful companion. He does well as a house dog too. Probably would not do well with outdoor cats.
10/18/07: Update. Joe is handsome, an active, energetic boy, doing really well, and now is swimming! He has a beautiful face! See him in the pic above (orange collar) swimming with the other Weims. He enjoys playing with my other dogs and is learning to retrieve. He has also been observed pointing, so he may be a good bird dog. He would be great for an active family who can give him the exercise he loves.
10/20/07 - Joe will be sent to Russ Smith for some obedience training.
ADOPTED 10/21/07. 10/7/07 LOCATED IN CHARLESTON, SC. "GRETAL" is a medium, spayed, approximately 5 yr old bitch found in Bamberg, SC. She is really sweet natured, gentle, obedient, friendly, and loving. She is housebroken and would make someone a wonderful companion - especially as a housepet. She seems fine with kids, but probably would not do well with outdoor cats. Gretal is heartworm positive and eventually must be treated with Immiticide (our club and her shelter are willing to pay for this). Right now, she is recovering from malnourishment. Please consider giving Gretal a loving home!

"EMIL"
Report from his foster home with Melissa:
He is just a typical young male Weim that
hasn’t had enough attention in puppyhood.
Emil is approximately 10
-12 months old. He still has his dewclaws. He is
neutered and heartworm negative. He is a typical male pup wanting lots of
attention. He loves to play with sticks and to
sit at my feet while I stroke his head. He would make some family a
wonderful pet. Needs to go to obedience classes. Adoption
fee is $250.

8/9/07 LOCATED IN SUMMERVILLE, SC AREA.
"GABE" (previously known as Greydog) was dumped
in Mike's yard near St George, SC. He sat on command for this picture. He is a very sweet dog
and will make someone very happy. He is being fostered by Russ Smith.
Thanks Mike for helping Greydog. Here is Russ' report:
Gabe is about 1 yr old.
In the short time that I have had Gabe, I can say he is a wonderful dog. Gabe
sleeps while traveling, is house broken, create trained, honors basic commands,
get alone with cats (loves to eat cat food – Mike had this problem), and plays
friendly with other dogs (Labradors, Weims, and other dogs at the vet) Honestly
he is a loving dog who can be place with no rehabilitation. The worst thing he
has done is jump up on me- but with a quick knee – he thinks twice of doing that
again. Gabe really is Smart and wants to learn. When I took him to work, he
was friendly with everyone (all races and sexes) so he really is socialized.
Gabe is full of Love, who wants a little love in return. When I say “no” he
will stop and come to me with an apologetic look. Gabe really wants to be a
good dog. Adoption fee is $250
Update: Gabe has been neutered and is being treated for a light heartworm infection.

10/5/07 LOCATED IN SAVANNAH, GA. "Jag"
is an approximately 1 yr old neutered male. Here is the initial report from
Alison Armao who picked him up from Beaufort Animal Control.:
He was picked up from Beaufort County Animal Control. He is
heart worm negative, up to date on all shots, and recently neutered.
I did a temperament test on him today and find him to be a non aggressive male. He does not startle. He has moderate ball drive. His leash manners need work. I was not able to test his prey drive. He rides well in a car and after a few minutes settles down in a crate. He will make an active family a good pet. Because he is a large male he would do best with someone who has time and the strength to exercise him. He will need obedience training and probably is not house broken. He appears to have lived somewhere other than inside a home. When with other dogs he is submissive

Blue
is a 2 year old grey Weimaraner who was rescued from a Greenville, SC Shelter in May 2007. He is

75lbs. Does not like cats (actually he really likes cats - just not in a good
way). He is housebroken and very good and calm in the house but should NOT be
left unattended. He likes to chew on Nylabones. Blue has worked up to runs of
3-5 miles and will heel off the leash on trails during runs or mountain biking
(training collar recommended). Blue has also learned to swim and play fetch
over the last few months. Blue is very energetic and a bit clumsy which has
earned him the nickname "Scooby Blue". Blue is good with children despite the
fact that he is clumsy. Blue needs an owner to bond with, but he also needs a
person who is educated in the ways of a Weimaraner. Blue has been in a shelter
and 2 homes over the last 3 months - he is beginning to feel unwanted so
please if you have some Weimaraner savvy give this boy a try.

SHADOW
2/14/07 -
is located in North Charleston. Mary must place this nice large male
due to her husband's bad health. He would be a great friend for a family with no
kids or other small pets.
8/07 ADOPTED.
7/17/07 IN THE CHARLOTTE, NC AREA.
Zeb needs a good home. He is a full-blooded AKC-registered male
Weimaraner, 9 years old, neutered and has no health issues. He has a sweet
disposition and lots of energy. He is very intelligent and great with kids. He
is good with other dogs, as long as he can be the Alpha Dog. Zeb is
obedience-trained and walks/runs great on a leash. He has been an inside dog
his entire life and is completely house broken.
He responds great to all people but listens best to men. His ideal home would have a fenced-in yard and/or owners with time for daily walks. He loves attention and is a very devoted and loyal dog. He is a great protector of home. The cost of his food for six months as well as the cost of his next veterinarian check-up will be included.
8/17/07 ADOPTED BY LIZ CHASE.
8/2/07
IN CHARLESTON, SC AREA.
"Hazel"
was picked up in July by animal control in Georgetown, SC. She had
obviously been chained out in some low life's yard. The collar cut
into her neck and she had beds of ticks on her body. Hazel is a small female and
appears to be around 1-2 yrs old. She is very friendly, loves attention
and plays with other Weimaraners and other dogs well. She is housebroken, is very sweet
and will make someone a wonderful pet. She has been spayed, had all her
shots and is microchipped.
8/4/07 ADOPTED BY Wayne Whiteside
of Greenwood, SC 7/6/07 STERLING, GREENVILLE (Simpsonville)
AREA. Information from owner: I adopted Sterling about 3 years ago
from Alabama. He is very tall and 95 pounds (large for a weim), 6-1/2 years old,
neutered, with no health problems. I have changed jobs and am traveling more.
My mother will be moving in with us at the end of July as well. Due to these
changes in my life, I need to find Sterling a better suited home for him. My
mother is older and small and Sterling has accidentally knocked her off her feet
several times. Sterling is an indoor dog. He is crated in our living room at
night to sleep (after 10PM). He is house broken and almost never has accidents.
He has attended obedience school but still has to wear a pinch collar to prevent
him from pulling during walks.
He plays well with other dogs that do not show aggression, especially smaller
ones. He is quite aggressive with other alpha males. He likes to be the center
of attention. He misses the attention he used to get before I started traveling
so much and before my children became so busy after school with sports. We
initially tried to travel with Sterling for short weekend trips but realized he
does not travel well and becomes very anxious.
7/15/07 ADOPTED.
6/14/07 IN THE COLUMBIA, SC AREA:
Information from owner:
Sage is
4 1/2 - 5 years old and has been spayed. She is up for adoption due
to the divorce of her owner who must move to an apartment. She is petite at 55
lbs. She is an extremely happy and playful dog. She takes very well to a crate. She does well inside if people are
home with her or if she is in a crate. My common practice with her was to crate
her during the day and have her out with the family in the evenings.
Sage is a very smart dog, and gets bored
easily. She is well trained and responds very
well to commands. She loves walks and walks very well on a leash. She loves to
cuddle on the couch.
Sage is an alpha dog. She has always gotten along very well with our other Weim, Boone. However,
I have noticed that she does not get along as well with other dogs. She seems to
have a spicy streak in her, but gets in line quickly
when commanded. She does not mix well with cats.
7/1/07
- Adopted by Trey Hiott! 6/30/07 BAXTER in
the Charleston, SC area is a
handsome young dog, 9 months old, housebroken, in good health, has AKC papers

friends. He is scheduled to be neutered 7/2/07. Adoption
fee is $250. Baxter will make someone a great friend!
5/30/07 CAMDEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 5/10/07 "Camden" (formerly BooBoo)
was picked up at the Camden Animal Shelter and is now in our Rescue program.
He is an approximately 1 yr old unneutered male, heartworm negative, all shots.
He was given up by his family because they thought he was too rambunctious for
their young child. Stacy Collum who picked him up from the shelter, said
she took him to a park and played with him for about an hour and he is a sweet
natured, really nice boy who will make a wonderful pet.
5/12/07 Update from Russ Smith: Camden is on medication for his respiratory infection. When that clears up he will be neutered. Camden has been around many strangers in the past few days and is friendly with them - so he is very socialized. Camden has been around several dogs (mine, Stacy's, at the vet) again friendly, no aggression at all. Camden has started to recognize his new name, walks great on lead, comes on command, and even honors the word "no" I have had no problem transporting him, Camden jumps right into both my work and personal trucks. He is already crate trained, goes right in, lies down, and is quiet all night. Camden is really a great dog. I honestly see no reason for anyone to have ever surrendered this dog.
5/24/07 ELLIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Her new name is ABBY. Thanks to Barbara Glover of Charleston. 5/17/07 "ELLIE" - We will have this 4 month old adorable bitch puppy available soon. He is a really sweet boy and loves other
dogs. We estimate he is about 18 months old. He is mildly heartworm
positive which is not a problem. Please find Sonic a loving home!
4/24/07 MOLLY HAS BEEN ADOPTED BY THE ROGER
FAMILY AND IS NOW NAMED GRACIE! 4/15/07 - LOCATED IN FOUNTAIN INN, SC
-
Molly was found March 26 at my home. She was in heat when found and stayed
with me for 5 or 6 days until My aunt Rosalia took her. She is a very
sweet but was scared of sudden movements. She is also very good with
children I have an eight year old son with High level autism that is not
always as gentle as he should be and very loud. But my son was the only
one Molly wasn't scared of .she was very good around him even let him hug
and rub all over her. which my own dog doesn't even let him do. I was very
impressed. she is a wonderful dog that loves attention (she will follow
you everywhere) and I really hope she gets a good home.
4/15/07 LOLA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!
Thanks to
Gary and
Hope Paul, in Moncks Corner.3/15/07 Here is information from Russ Smith, who is fostering Lola in
Summerville, SC:
LOLA is a young female less than a year old. She
has a very sweet attitude, and is full of energy (puppy in adult body);
she has a natural tail (not docked). Lola came from an abusive situation, she
was beaten for doing wrong, yet that was all the attention she ever got. She
spent most of her day locked in a house alone-but was not house broken, and
appeared to have no training at all. She freaked out the first day when I put
a collar and lead on her.Today Lola wears a collar, and works much
better on a lead. She will sit and come - especially if you have treats.
Lola's crate training has come a long way - will sleep all night but the
crate must be in your room. I do not recommend creating if you leave the
house, she will freak out and non-stop bark and try to get out. But she
travels great in a crate - and has spends many hours in the truck while we are
in the bird field. I would say she is house trained now - but she still wants
to chew on things - so keep plenty of chew toys. Lola will make a great watch
dog, she alert bark at every noise she hear, and
lets me know anytime someone walks by the fence in the back yard.
I have introduced her to quail - and last week we got a point. So with a little more training she would make a good hunting partner.
DEUCE HAS BEEN
ADOPTED! 3/12/07 DEUCE
2/14/07; neutered male, is located in Sumter, SC Will make someone a great pet!
I got Deuce on Friday 2/9, and he is your typical Weim. Looks to be fairly young. With a little work (he catches on fast) he knows sit, stay, come, down, and has learned to use the doggy door. Of course more work is needed in this area. He will go to the door to go out, but will not scratch, so you have to pay attention. This dog just needs exercise and attention. He has found out what a cat is , pretty much just wants to smell them. Gets along with any size dog. Likes children, but he does like to jump around, so small children may be a problem. I think with some one-on-one training that could be worked out because he is very friendly and wants to please. He is going to be neutered immediately. He should be ready to find a family by 2/21/07.
KAY
3/6/07 ADOPTED! Thank you Nancy Bixby and family of Lexington, SC
- is spayed and located in the Charleston area. We believe
she is about 2 yrs old. She came from a HORRIBLE puppy mill in Raleigh, NC. 60
dogs were rescued from this hell hole. We believe Kay and her co prisoners
were never touched in a nice way by humans. They were terrified of humans.
We have been fostering Kay and 2 others since December and have made great
strides! She is still timid but is much better. Kay is ready for a
new home as long as the home realizes that she is very shy and afraid of people.
She walks on lead, plays well with other dogs. Cats and kids unknown (we have
neither). I doubt that she has any aggressive bone in her body. She
is pretty and needs an understanding home. Please find room in your heart
for KAY!
1/27/07 ALEXA HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Thanks to Ms. Donna Koczon and her family for finding a loving home for her. "ALEXA" - Alexa is approx. 18 months old, spayed, HW negative, and one of 3 bitches rescued from a horrible puppy mill in Raleigh, NC. They had no positive human contact; they have been mistreated and were terrified of humans. After over a month of gentle care, Alexa is now a tail wagging happy girl. She is still afraid of loud noises and fast movement toward her. She plays well with other dogs and is house broken. Alexa will make someone a wonderful pet if they understand her need of gentle, quiet care. She is being fostered in the Charleston, SC area.

"HARVEY" -
1/7/07 -HAS BEEN ADOPTED!! A
10 month old, neutered, handsome
male was rescued from an abusive situation in a SC trailer park by a concerned neighbor. The rescuing lady threatened to
call the SPCA about the way they were abusing (hitting, yelling at him,
etc) him and so the people gave her the dog. She took him
to the vet and got his shots. "Harvey" is a very nice looking and sweet
dog, is being trained by his foster home, he wants to please, and
gets along well w/ other dogs. He is also being crate
trained, is housebroken, and is being fostered in Charleston, SC with another Weimaraner. Harvey
is showing real promise in the field on quail. He will make
someone a wonderful family pet, and hunting companion.

RESCUE INFORMATION
Rescue Weimaraners make absolutely wonderful pets! They seem so happy
to have a loving home. We carefully screen our rescue dogs and offer
for adoption only those who will fit into a family situation.
GCWC has had an active Weimaraner Rescue Program for many years. Our Rescue people have done a fabulous job rescuing and placing Weimaraners who have lost their homes. Most of our fund raising efforts go to our Rescue Program (see Gifts)
We are always in need of homes to foster rescue Weimaraners until a suitable home can be found.
The
Greater Charleston Weimaraner Club Rescue Program was established in 1987 when
our first Weim was “rescued” and place in a new home
Purpose
The purpose of the Greater Charleston Weimaraner
Club Rescue Program is to take Weims in need of homes, rehabilitate them, and
find loving new homes for these wonderful dogs.
Goal
Our goal is to give as many lost, neglected and
abandoned Weims as possible a second chance at a good life.
Where do Rescued Weims come from?
Often through no fault of
their own, Weimaraners are turned over to us because of lifestyle changes of
their owners. The owners divorce,
move to an apartment, have a baby, etc. and can no longer care for their
Weimaraner.
Why adopt an adult dog?
Weimaraner puppies, as cute
as they are, are notorious for causing havoc as they go through the
housebreaking, chewing, and basic learning stages.
Rescued Weims make wonderful companions.
How do I adopt a
Weimaraner?
In order to adopt a dog from
our Rescue Program, an adoption application must be completed.
This application can be found on our website under the Rescue Section.
How long does it
take to adopt a Weimaraner?
The length of the adoption
process depends on the availability of dogs in our Rescue Program that meet your
particular needs.
Some Rescue dogs are placed
within weeks of being received in our program.
Cost of adopting
a Weimaraner
A donation of $250 is
requested for each adopted Weimaraner.
